Radio Cayman is the “Community’s Station” and provides extensive coverage of national events, such as the Queen’s Birthday Parade in June, Pirates Week Festival activities in October, the Remembrance Day Service in November and other community activities including rebroadcast of the proceedings in the Legislative Assembly when the House is in session.

The station’s first broadcast was during Easter of 1976, but the official broadcast began on 12 December 1976. Thirty five years later, it remains one of the Cayman Islands’ most respected stations.

In the 1980s Radio Cayman started providing the Cayman Islands with a choice of two services, Radio Cayman One and BreezeFM 89.9 and 105.3FM on Grand Cayman and 91.9 and 93.9FM on Cayman Brac and Little Cayman.

Radio Cayman provides the islands with a 24 hour broadcast service daily, including BBC World Service Programming, between midnight and 6am on Radio Cayman One and a magical mix of music on BreezeFM. The station also delivers the most extensive and credible local, regional and international newscasts in the Cayman Islands.

JyeshtaGauriPooja, one of the popular vratas observed in Bhadrapada month in Maharashtra as per Marathi calendar. It is observed duringJyesthanakshatra hence known as JyesthaGaurivrata. This three day puja usually starts on sixth day of bhadrapad month and ends on eigth day of month.
Some households also call it as Mahalaxmi. Godessgauri is worshiped and offered food consisting of sixteen types of vegetable dishes, sweets, rice preparations and fruits. JyesthaGauriare brought into the house in pairs: Jyeshtha and Kanishtha, Sakhi and Parvati etc. The hostess of the house arranges get together (” Haldi-Kumkum”) commonly in her house on second day: Gauripujan. The ways of celebration of this festival differs from caste ti caste.

ABOUT APP :
The first day of Navratra is called Ghatasthapana, which literally means pot establishing. On this day the kalash, (holy water vessel) symbolizing Goddess Durga often with her image embossed on the side is placed in the prayer room. The kalash is filled with holy water and covered with cowdung on to which seeds are sown. A small rectangular sand block is made and the kalash is put in the centre. The surrounding bed of sand is also seeded with grains.
The Ghatasthapana ritual is performed at a certain auspicious moment determined by the pundits. At that particular moment the priest intones a welcome, requesting goddess Durga to bless the vessel with Her presence. At several places there is a tradition of sowing barley seeds during the Durga Puja – Navratri period. In this a small bed of mud is prepared in a little container and barley seeds are sown in it. This is placed in the Puja room and cared for during the Navratri period. At the end of Navratri the shoots reach a height of 3-5 inches. These are pulled out and given to devotees as form of blessings.
